Have known and hooked up with many asian guys like your partner and have a few as friends. I know your partner thinks he's being secretive and hiding things, but in most cases the families already know. You are right 36 year old not yet married. He's probably got a few other signs. Believe me, they know.

ReplyDeleteStrange if there are no signs, why did the sister ask that question? i'm in an asian family and people talk and i'm sure the issue has been brought up with his parents by their friends or relatives. I've had numerous conversations with family members of all ages on this topic. Since I'm out, they are very open around me. I even had a chat with 95 year old great grandparents about a grandson they thought was gay since he was like you're boyfriend. One thing they said clued them in was he never pays attention to attractive women in the room or public. He never notices them, but they did notice his eyes were always drawn to handsome men in the room. Unless parents have been living in isolation, they know.
ReplyDeleteWhy did his sister ask that question? Over 30 and never a girlfriend might be one reason. If the parents know, then why are they literally screaming at him to get married? The parents are in a third or fourth tier city in China. The father barely speaks Mandarin. My bf really believes that they have no idea that two men can be attracted to one another -- no concept of what "gay" is. Whereas the sister is educated and lives in Beijing.
