The Real MAGA

The real Make America Great Again begins this week.  We're coming off a low point.

I'm relieved just like 74 million other people in the US.  This four year nightmare is over.  Biden's speech on Saturday was powerful and I appreciate his focus on unity.  He has a reputation for consensus building and the other legislators trust him.  Let's hope he can get some things done.  He won't get the far left stuff, but that's ok.  Just having a coherent, competent leader in the Whitehouse will be great.

An important takeaway for me from this week's election:  70 million people voted for Trump.  After all this, he still got the support of 70 million people.  What does this tell us about the US?  It's a fundamentally conservative country?  Had Trump acted presidential during his term, and actually done a few things, he certainly would have won re-election.  This was not the landslide for Joe Biden that many people expected.  Joe Biden is a centrist.  Had he been further left, it might have been problematic for him.

I expect will see egregious abuses of power in the next 75 days.  Pardons for lots of friends, maybe even for himself.  Hopefully America will be cautious when the next person shows up claiming to be an outsider with all the answers.

  2. New beginnings... hopefully things will move given that Republicans continue to control the Senate. But whatever the case, it’ll at least be lesser of a nightmare compared to the last 4 years.

Hang in the my friend. Jan 20 will come.
