Morning Walk

The morning weather is so beautiful right now.  It's 65F  (18 C).  I went for a walk at 6 :15 this morning.  It was cool, but perfect for just shorts and a t-shirt.  Only a few other people walking and running.  After seven many more will come out.   There is a sidewalk farmer's market nearby and some of the vendors were just getting set up.  I'm so grateful for this morning walk.

It is now the end of the third week of my eight week stint at home.  I'm a bit frustrated that I'm stuck at 75kg despite lots of lifting, cardio, intermittent fasting and a calorie deficit.  I started running again last week.  I feel like there is also a mental health benefit from running.  Let's see if that helps.

Five more weeks until my trip to NYC.  That won't help my diet, but NYC is my favorite city.  I am picking the restaurants I want to try.  Expensive restaurants are one of the most overrated things in NYC, and I want to carefully choose so as to avoid disappointment and too expensive..

One of my former co-workers called me out of the blue yesterday.  I worked with him twenty years ago and he's kept in touch.  He had some personal finance questions he wanted to run by me.  He sent me a message:  "You had better not still be working!"

The immediate future doesn't look good for the U.S.  With all the stupid things Trump has done in the last fifteen months, he has averted disaster.  It's not looking that way this time.  The "unconditional surrender" didn't happen.  His "address to the nation" was clear as mud.  Higher oil prices could create an economic disaster.  Two of the band of idiots have been exited.  Hopefully the "secretary of war" is next.   He seems gleeful with this war.  I suppose the replacements could be worse.   Looking forward with trepidation.

  1. Exercise in all forms has mental health benefits, as does just getting outside and going for a walk. The next 5 weeks I think will pass by fast but maybe not as fast as you want them to. Glad you have a trip in your future and hope that you enjoy yourself. I agree with your comments about the U.S. and I'm concerned as well as this cluster continues to play out.

    1. Agree that all exercise has mental health benefits. It's just that I really feel it more so with the running.

  2. NYC is one of my favorite cities too, though I don't think I could live there full time. I think I would tire of the constant hustle and bustle. When I think of the future of our country, I get a pit in my stomach. The felon has done so much damage that will take years to fix. I cannot wait to see him gone.

    1. I can only handle like 5 days in NYC. Too much stimulation. Also my feet are killing me -- my typical day in NYC is 30,000 steps!
