Now that I'm back I am analyzing the cost of my trip.
- Flights: $1373 - RT to Asia and two other flights in China.
- Hotels: 22 nights averaging $101.26 - 15 nights five star and 7 four star
Food, sightseeing and ground transportation is still being reviewed. My bf paid for a lot of the food. The metro in China was about $0.42 per ride. A Grab (Uber) ride in Vietnam was usually about $1.30 plus a small tip. Food was generally inexpensive -- dinner for both of us often $10 but not more than $20. Breakfast/lunch in the $5 to $10 range for both of us.
The entire trip? Maybe $4300.
My intention for these trips is to "travel well, on the cheap." But not too cheap. That's why I like to do some planning and have an overall budget. If I go on a 60 day trip I for sure want to have a budget and a plan. For a longer stay I would shift to AirBnB.
Now looking at Europe -- Spain, Portugal, Morocco, or maybe the northern European countries since I haven't been to them. Or maybe both.
After visiting Vietnam, Da Nang and the coast are on my list. Good access from Seoul, Tokyo and Singapore. Japan and Korea are on my list as I haven't been to them.

Your hotel cost is pretty low considering 5 start hotels
