My Addiction

I'm realizing I have an addiction to TikTok -- which I need to break.  There's a few TT people I like and they post nearly everyday.  I like to comment on their posts.   And then it's so easy to keep scrolling on a few more videos and a few more videos which turns into one hundred or more.  I can't do this for hours a day.

This is my life?   I can't continue like this.  I should be doing something productive.  This is why I will start looking for an interim job when I get back from my trip.  By interim, I mean 2-3 months and then it ends.   Alternatively, I could do some kind of gig work business.   Something to do and some extra money.  It's not like I'm doing nothing.   I am getting way more exercise - that's a good thing.  However I can do better than this.

Also thinking about my trips for next year.

I'm also working on health insurance.  Trying to figure out my best options.  It will be years before I can get Medicare.  We are about to have a health insurance crisis in the US at year end.  Enhanced subsidies for Obamacare plans will end and perhaps 12 million people (half the population using Obamacare) will not be able to afford coverage.  Medicaid is being gutted as well, but I'm less familiar with that plan.

On another note, when I got my haircut recently the barber told me I will never go bald.  My previous barber told me this over ten years ago, and turns out she was right.  I'm so relieved.

  1. This is why I never had an Tiktok account. IG reels are more than enough to waste 1 hour of the day scrolling away. I can't afford to waste my entire day looking at meaningless short clips. I have paid less attention in IG these days, it was quite an achievement. Now I usually spend my time on Facebook shorts (equivalent to IG reels) which is not a good thing to do.

I am feeling envious of you and your ever growing hair. :'(

  2. It is so easy to go down a rabbit hole on the internet. I have to sometimes make a conscious effort to get off of the computer.

  3. Social Media just sucks you in. I have the same problem that I can spend hours on it. I find myself putting on a TV show and then picking up my phone. Before you know it I am all consumed by my phone and could care less about what's on TV.

    1. Same for me. Then I realize I don't remember what happened with the TV show for the last fifteen minutes and have to replay it.

  4. I had tick tock for a while but soon deleted it as I was wasting too much time on it. Instagram is just as bad.
