My new experience? I missed my connecting flight and got to spend the night in the Philadelphia Airport! I've never slept overnight in an airport before. I ran through the airport. My flight was still at the gate but the door had closed. I was rebooked on a flight nine hours later. The airport hotel was $340, so I passed on that. I found one of those recliner massage chairs and was able to sleep for three hours. The airport started to come alive again around 4am.
Bad luck sometimes happens.
Did you think "new experience" was going to be orgy in a gay bathhouse?
Sorry about the overnight at the airport. We are headed west in a few weeks and one of the airports where we catch a connecting flight is Philadelphia. I have been thinking about the government shut down and how this will have an impact on travel.
ReplyDeleteThe delay in my case was caused by weather. Low cloud cover. For weather delays the airline does nothing for you -- no hotel, no food voucher. Make sure you have some time buffer between flights. I had 1.5 hours but that still wasn't enough.
DeleteA weather delay happened to me once before too, in Burlington, VT where I had to spend the night. We have 1.5 hours for connection time. Fingers crossed.
