Getting Stronger

I continue to work on getting stronger, but progress is slow.  I'm lifting and doing body weight exercises like pull-ups and dips.  I'd like to make better progress.   Now that I'm at home for the next few months I need to amp it up.

I feel so weak.  I need to get to some baseline reasonable strength level.  There is a nice gym not so far from me that is $130 per month.  However, it's a younger crowd that is already in great shape.  I probably also need a trainer at least for a while.   I'll continue my current program for now but increase intensity.

My idea of going somewhere where I can join a high end gym and have personal training is sounding more appealing.  KL or Bangkok are probably the best places for a two month intensive effort.  Plus some adventure.

  1. I highly recommend using a personal trainer. I used a trainer off and on for the last fifteen years. I consider it a form of self-care.

    1. How much does that cost? Hourly rate and how often do you do it?

    2. At my regular gym personal training starts at $160 per hour. I do my personal training at a private gym. My trainer charges $100 per hour. Initially I trained once a week for 10 weeks but now I train every other week. In Denver there are many private gyms, and the personal trainers charge less than those the national gym chains. Private trainers are usually more experienced than those at the chains.

    3. $160 per hour??? I'm in shock. That's an associate lawyer rate. Even $100 is surprisingly high. It must be paying off for you.
