Massage

On thing I really like in Asia is getting a massage.  It's so inexpensive compared to the US and probably better.  I'm talking about a real massage, not a happy ending type thing.  If I was staying in Asia I would do this a few times a week.

Vietnam is similar to Thailand, massage places everywhere.  I asked my bf, hey let's get a massage.  He didn't want to.  Why?   It's great for relaxation and so inexpensive.

His answer --  if the masseuse is a good looking guy I will get hard.  Seriously?   I'll make sure you get a female masseuse, I told him.   Still no.

So I ended up with one foot massage for the entire trip.  One hour for $12 USD.

It was a nice massage place in HCMC.  They had a room with eight foot massages going on.   There was a men's locker room with two attendants.  The shower and sauna room was adjacent to the locker room.  I didn't use the sauna.  A few muscular Asian guys in there.  This was not a gay massage type of place.

I wanted a full body massage, but they were completely booked.  After the massage they gave me tea and some fresh mango slices.

I'm a little frustrated with my bf.  I wish he would be more adventurous.  A massage is no big deal.  There was a "spa for men" not far from our hotel in HCMC that I wanted to take him to, but in the end I didn't even suggest it.

I did get him to go to Frolic in HCMC on Saturday.  I'm not a bar person, but sometimes I like to go out of curiosity.  They had two go-go boys and a drag show.  Overall it was underwhelming, but there were many cute Asian boys there.  We left before 12:30 am.  We were supposed to check out a gay club in Shanghai, but it didn't happen.  My bf told me gay clubs in Asia are boring compared to the US, so I wouldn't like them.  Really?   Let me be the judge.  And, that's not what I experienced in Thailand.

I'm not a party'er, but I'm curious.   I like to check out a few gay things when I'm traveling.

I wish the trip to Asia wasn't so painful.  Door to door the trip back was 34 hours, including an 11.5 hour flight leg in economy.

  1. Glad to hear you had a good time. That travel time sounds brutal but at least it's behind you now. Hope your planning your next trip!

  2. My gay clubbing days are behind me but it's still fun to check out the scene when traveling.

  3. I flew 14 hours in economy to Japan in 2023. It was tortuous.

  4. Most likely, your bf is still closeted and he doesn't like being judged by those Asian masseuses that he is in a relationship with a Westerner. Age gap is also one possibility.

    1. That's a possibility. He always tells me he doesn't care what other people think, but he still may care. Being in a relationship with a Westerner is viewed negatively?

    2. Not really viewed as negative. It's awkward to be judged as gold digger. If you know, you know.
