Question:
If you were going to take a beach vacation in Malaysia, where would you go? I've been to Penang and was not impressed. I see some beaches mentioned online are in Terengannu, which I understand is a very conservative area. I want a soft, sandy beach and REAL waves.
I'm doing some planning and comparing costs in Spain and Greece to Asia.
I'm narrowing down options in Asia:
- Hua Hin
- Da Nang
- Cam Rahn
- Bali
I am not sure what you look for in taking beach vacation, so far, the famous ones in M'sia are pulau tioman, pulau perhentian, and redang. They are just typical sunny beaches with strict rules of no nudity allowed. Other than that, pretty much the same as others.
ReplyDeleteBali could be your top choice. Since it is the prime destination for most westerners.
If you intend to go full nudes in beaches, probably Spain i think.
I used to love going to beaches for sun tanning and wearing skimpy trunk. Now not anymore due to the rising risk of skin cancer and water pollution.
I know there are no nude beaches in Asia -- so not looking for that. I would go to the beach just briefly and with protection as I am also very concerned about skin damage from the sun. So I want a place with other things to do besides just the beach. I also would make sure the water is clean -- no sewerage being pumped into the ocean nearby.
DeleteYou can also consider Phuket - there’re options of day trips where you can visit islands off Phuket where they have nice sandy beaches and clear waters eg Kho Phi Phi, Kho Nok, etc. and returning in the evenings for some good meals, massages, etc.
ReplyDeleteI've been to Phuket twice. I'm looking for a place that is less commercialized. My Thai friend calls Phuket the most expensive beach area in Thailand.
DeleteAhhh I see. Then from your list, I’ll consider Da Nang or Hua Hin. They are better known than Can Rahn. Have you researched on Boracay or Cebu? What about Ligitan or Sipadan?
