Big changes are coming. My new job starts in two weeks. I will report for my first day in Germany, and then spend the next five weeks in Germany, Czech Republic and Poland.
I return to an ex-pat assignment in Canada for two years.
I will set up a small one bedroom apartment in a Canadian city. I'm planning a minimalist life. I will bring or buy only the essentials. I don't know why, but I just don't want to buy anything. In fact I may keep a count of every possession in the apartment just to keep it to a minimum. Bed, coffee maker, computer -- do I need anything else? I'm looking at high-rise buildings. No grass to cut and easy to clean.
At the same time I will have my house in the US where my kids still live.
I really will have "two lives" for a while.
This is the beginning of a transition to the next chapter where my kids are independent and I'm on my own.
Good luck, RB. This is a BIG change!
